• Abstract: This article deals mainly with the analysis of humorous elements in Julio Cortázar’s highbrow antinovel Rayuela. How has the humour been translated from Argentinian Spanish into German? What techniques or stylistic devices have been used by the German translator Fritz Rudolf Fries to render the humour of the original version? Can his translation be considered successful or has the humour been lost in translation? The translation of humor in Rayuela is a Herculean task.
