Abstract: Objective: To build an educational booklet aimed at professionals of the multidisciplinary team, family members and patients hospitalized in the Special Care Unit (CSU) of the Hospital de Clínicas de Porto Alegre. To this end, a methodological study of the type of development was carried out, through a search for convenience, of scientific productions related to the theme and reflective analysis of the material. Explain the care adopted by the nursing team as preventive measures for impaired swallowing in patients affected by stroke. Method: Experience report on the development of an educational booklet entitled: "nursing care in the prevention of impaired swallowing in hospitalized patients affected by stroke" made by clinical nurses working in a CSU, where they admit patients who have suffered a stroke and consequently, with risks for impaired swallowing. Results: The constructed material contains eight sections: "Preventing a new stroke", "The role of the family", "Caring for the patient with motor difficulties", "Caring for the patient with difficulty in understanding and expressing himself", "Caring for the patient with difficulty swallowing", "Administering medications", "Psychological aspects" Caring for the caregiver", "Social benefits to the patient who suffered a stroke". The font used was Times New Roman, size 16 for titles and 14 for body text. Final Considerations: The construction of the booklet is relevant for the guidance of patients with nursing care in the prevention of impaired swallowing in hospitalized patients affected by stroke, professionals of the multidisciplinary team for care, and the role of the nurse as a health educator on the use of technologies and materials as educational booklets is highlighted.
