Abstract: Current progress in digital technologies has allowed games and interactive content to be used as a teaching strategy to awaken students' interest in scientific and technological knowledge. These tools, when properly applied, assist in teaching concepts associated with Chemistry. The goal of this work is to develop interactive games and content in the Moodle virtual learning environment allowing to present the characteristics of the carbon atom, the conceptual terms associated with the classification of carbon chains and also to show the structural differences of organic radicals used in the nomenclature of organic molecules. To achieve this goal, a crossword puzzle game was created using Hot Potatoes and a memory game was developed through the H5P interactive content activity module. Both resources, Hot Potatoes activity and H5P interactive content, are available as plugins in the Moodle virtual learning environment at the Federal University of Santa Catarina.
