El Traductor Como Mediador Intercultural. El Caso Del Lenguaje Tabú.

Este capítulo tiene como objetivo ahondar en una reflexión teórica acerca del papel del traductor inter-lenguas como mediador intercultural entre texto fuente o Source Text (ST) y texto meta o Target Text (TT) frente a temas y lenguaje que pueden ser considerados como “tabú”. Para llevar a cabo esta tarea, resulta necesaria una amplia comprensión cultural con el fin de lograr la transmisión exitosa del ST hacia el lector del TT. Esta reflexión forma parte de la investigación doctoral de la docente Angélica Ruiz como parte de sus estudios en Lenguas Aplicadas, Literatura y Traducción en la Universidad Jaume I (Castellón de la Plana, España). El presente análisis tiene como base algunos de los conceptos metodológicos de los Estudios Descriptivos de Traducción o Descriptive Translation Studies (DTS), y del Análisis Crítico del Discurso (CDA), así como de trabajos realizados desde el ámbito de la subtitulación que tienen como objetivo principal la cuestión del lenguaje tabú. Esta reflexión no solamente abarca el campo de la traductología, sino que también recurre a la sociolingüística y al análisis del discurso en el marco de los conceptos de mediación y de interculturalidad como elementos inseparables de la traducción. Se trata, pues, de un trabajo puramente cualitativo y reflexivo en el que, por ahora, no se incluyen apreciaciones de tipo cuantitativo.

  • Abstract: The objective of this chapter is to delve into a theoretical reflection about the role of the interlinguistics translator as an intercultural mediator between a Source Text (ST) and a Target Text (TT) face to subjects and language that can be considered as “taboo”. To develop this task, a wide cultural understanding is necessary in order to successfully achieve the transmission of the ST message to the TT reader. This reflection makes part of the doctoral research that is being carried out by Professor Angelica Ruiz as part of her doctoral studies in Applied Languages, Literature and Translation at the University Jaume I (Castellon de la Plana, Spain). This analysis is based on some of the methodological concepts of the Descriptive Translation Studies (DTS), of the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA), and are also issued from a series of studies about taboo language developed from the field of subtitling. This reflection not only addresses translation, but also sociolinguistics and discourse analysis within the framework of the concepts of mediation and interculturality which are inseparable of translation. This is, then, a purely qualitative and reflexive work in which, for now, no quantitative appreciations are included.
