Abstract: PD is a chronic and neurodegenerative disease that is primarily associated with motor symptoms such as tremors at rest, slowness of movement (bradykinesia) and decreased movement (hypokinesia), rigidity, and postural instability, in addition to non-motor manifestations among which identified: depression, apathy, cognitive impairment. A treatment that completely cures PD has not yet been found. The treatments developed so far have only served as palliatives to inhibit some of the symptoms or at least reduce or delay the increase in their severity. The preferred treatment for PD continues to be L-DOPA/Carbidopa, as it is the treatment that causes the best effects to alleviate symptoms in patients with PD. The purpose of this chapter is to evaluate the antiparkinsonian properties of resveratrol. Resveratrol is a substance of natural origin, located in grapes, walnuts, blueberries, and pistachios, among others. In humans and cell cultures, it has demonstrated its antioxidant, neuroprotective, and antiparkinsonian capacity. The results suggest that the administration of resveratrol to patients with PD could be as effective, but safer than the administration of L-DOPA.
