Abstract: The right to education has become a standard in different Educational Systems at an international level and in our country it is no exception. The current government policies offer new opportunities for interested people to join a university to carry out their higher studies. The Technological Institute of Huatabampo is a reference in terms of higher education in the south of the state. This year it has had an unusual demand for admission and all those who met the minimum requirements for admission have been placed in each of the courses offered for this 2022-2023 school year. This study analyzes the family, socioeconomic and human development characteristics of new students, in order to generate institutional policies that allow better attention and development of the programs, since the dropout rates are very high and the graduation rates are very low. Knowing the students is the key to designing rescue strategies and preventing them from dropping out. Convincing them to achieve their professional goal is a priority of the institution's new training vision. To achieve the stated objective, the support of all the actors in the processes is required: managers, academic, administrative and service personnel, students, parents and society.
