Abstract: The pandemic caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) type 2 identified in December 2019, better known worldwide as COVID-19, not only unleashed a health crisis, but also had a major impact in the economic sphere, both in developing countries and in those considered world powers. In Mexico, it is important to remember that, even before the HIV/AIDS pandemic, there had been problems in various spheres for decades, evidently in the economy, health, social development, among others. Undoubtedly, this sanitary contingency aggravated and evidenced the shortages that the nation was facing and still faces with greater severity. This article analyzes how the COVID-19 pandemic significantly affected the national and international economy, but above all, how it affected the monetary stability of individuals and families.
