Abstract: Introduction: Ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks have become widely used in modern anesthesiology due to their potential to increase procedural accuracy and improve perioperative pain management. Objective: To analyze scientific evidence regarding the efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks in anesthetic practice. Methods: A systematized literature review based on PRISMA guidelines was conducted using PubMed/MEDLINE, SciELO, and LILACS databases. Studies published between 2020 and 2025 investigating ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks in anesthetic and analgesic settings were included. Results: The analyzed studies demonstrated that ultrasound guidance improves block precision, enhances analgesic quality, and reduces perioperative opioid consumption. The technique also showed a favorable safety profile, although methodological heterogeneity was observed across studies. Conclusion: Ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve blocks represent an effective and safe strategy for pain management in anesthesiology, contributing to improved clinical outcomes and greater procedural safety.
