Abstract: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a psychopathological condition arising from one or several traumatic experiences, with a high worldwide incidence and closely associated with other comorbidities, which lacks more effective therapies. Among the recent innovative therapies developed for mental disorders that involve substances that modulate the CNS is psychotherapy assisted by 3,4 – methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), a molecule that mediates neutrotransmitters and facilitates mental processes essential for psychotherapy. The present study sought to carry out a literary review of studies with the best level of evidence addressing this therapy. The study was carried out in the form of an integrative review whose search for clinical trials was carried out in the databases PubMed, LILACS (via VHL), Scielo and EBSCO, where of the 6923 initial articles, 7 studies were selected. The selected clinical trials, randomized double-blind with control groups, used usual clinical indicators to assess the presence and degree of intensity of PTSD and associated symptoms, evaluating the effectiveness of treatment in groups that received MDMA in relation to groups with placebo. Thus, all studies indicated that there was a greater percentage reduction in PTSD symptoms in the treatment groups compared to the control groups, corroborating the viability of this psychotherapeutic modality as an alternative in clinical practice.
