EFETIVIDADE DA ATIVIDADE LARVICIDA DE ÓLEOS ESSENCIAIS FRENTE AO Aedes aegypti.
Nos últimos séculos, o Aedes aegypti tem protagonizado graves impactos sanitários através da disseminação de viroses, tais quais: dengue, Chikungunya, Zika e febre amarela urbana. Atualmente, a principal forma de reduzir a incidência de casos é combatendo o mosquito, já que a disponibilidade de vacinas ainda é nula ou escassa. No entanto, a maior parte das técnicas de controle do vetor, especialmente quando se trata de inseticidas químicos convencionalmente utilizados, é sanitariamente, socioeconomicamente e ambientalmente ineficaz. Nesse cenário, o estudo em questão abordou os óleos essenciais como uma alternativa plausível, visto que uma série de trabalhos já identificaram, experimentaram e comprovaram os mecanismos de ação dos ativos bioquímicos que os compõem, bem como a efetividade de suas propriedades, incluindo a inseticida (larvicida). Assim, estudar acerca da efetividade da atividade larvicida de diferentes extratos vegetais frente ao A. aegypti foi o objetivo primário que norteou a pesquisa em evidência. Com isso, realizou-se uma revisão da literatura baseada em 89 produções científicas (artigos, teses, dissertações, monografias, livros e boletins epidemiológicos) redigidas em língua portuguesa e inglesa, cujas publicações datam de, no máximo, duas décadas atrás (2000-2021). As obras foram conseguidas através das plataformas virtuais SciELO, Google Acadêmico e PubMed. Nas buscas, foram utilizadas as palavras-chave: A. aegypti; Óleos essenciais; Larvicidas; Inseticidas convencionais. O beneficiamento dos estudos-referência ocorreu de acordo com a compatibilidade entre o conteúdo e o tema, além da disponibilidade de informações relevantes e atualizadas sobre o último. A partir dos métodos de revisão adotados, o objetivo geral foi cumprido com êxito, ao longo dos três tópicos, que explanaram, ordenadamente, os principais pontos acerca do mosquito e dos óleos essenciais; o poder inseticida de extratos vegetais de diferentes espécies; e, por fim, a comparação entre métodos convencionais e óleos essenciais no combate ao inseto.

Abstract:
In recent centuries, the Aedes aegypti mosquito has had serious health impacts through the spread of viruses such as dengue, Chikungunya, Zika, and urban yellow fever. Currently, the main way to reduce the incidence of cases is fighting the mosquito, since the availability of vaccines is still nil or scarce. However, most of the vector control techniques, especially when it comes to conventionally used chemical insecticides, are sanitarily, socioeconomically, and environmentally ineffective. In this scenario, the study in question addressed essential oils as a plausible alternative, since a number of works have already identified, experimented and proven the mechanisms of action of the biochemical actives that compose them, as well as the effectiveness of their properties, including insecticidal (larvicidal). Thus, studying the effectiveness of the larvicidal activity of different plant extracts against A. aegypti was the primary objective that guided this research. Thus, a literature review was conducted based on 89 scientific productions (articles, theses, dissertations, monographs, books, and epidemiological bulletins) written in Portuguese and English, whose publications date back no more than two decades (2000-2021). The works were obtained from the virtual platforms SciELO, Google Scholar, and PubMed. In the searches, the following keywords were used: A. aegypti; Essential oils; Larvicides; Conventional insecticides. The reference-studies were selected according to the compatibility between the content and the theme, as well as the availability of relevant and updated information on the latter. From the review methods adopted, the general objective was successfully met throughout the three topics, which explained, in an orderly manner, the main points about the mosquito and essential oils; the insecticidal power of plant extracts of different species; and finally, the comparison between conventional methods and essential oils in combating the insect.
