Abstract: Given Brazil's dependence on hop imports, interest in hop production has increased, and the state of Rio de Janeiro stands out in this regard. Composted poultry litter with the addition of biochar forms a nutrient-rich compound. In addition to being environmentally safe, its use could be an alternative to reduce costs with mineral fertilizers. This study aimed to elucidate the development of hops when subjected to fertilization with organic and mineral waste. For this purpose, a field experiment was carried out on the farm of Grupo Petrópolis (Teresópolis-RJ) with the cultivar Triple Pearl, following a randomized block design, 2 x 4 + 1 factorial arrangement and 4 replications. The plants were subjected to doses of poultry litter (D1: 5 Mg ha-1; D2: 10 Mg ha-1) determined based on the nutritional demand of the crop, and doses of biochar (BC) (0, 5, 10 and 15%), plus the control treatment (mineral fertilizer). The fresh and dry mass of the aerial part and inflorescences (cone), as well as the number of cones, they were evaluated. The results showed that the fresh and dry mass of the aerial part of the plants that received organic fertilization did not differ statistically from those fertigated with mineral fertilizers. Regarding the cones, the dose 2 + 15% BC presented the best results, with no statistical difference in relation to the treatment with mineral fertilizer, indicating the compound used as promising in the fertilization of hops cv. Triple Pearl cultivated in the Mountainous Region of Rio de Janeiro.
