Abstract: The soil invertebrate community is involved in nutrient cycling and is sensitive to changes in environmental conditions. The study of how climate and plant species influence soil fauna is of great importance for the adoption of sustainable management practices. We evaluated the effect of seasonality on the edaphic macrofauna in areas of grass, woodland and forest fragment in the UFRRJ Botanical Garden, Seropédica, RJ. The organisms were collected from five monoliths in the 0-10 cm soil layer, using the Tropical Soil Biology Fertility method, randomly collected in each area during the rainy and dry seasons. Seasonality altered the values of total richness (total number of taxonomic groups), the Pielou index of uniformity, the relative participation (%) of Oligochaeta, Formicidae and Isopoda, the density (ind/m2) of Isopoda, Oligochaeta, Coleoptera larvae and the community, with the highest values being observed in the rainy season compared to the dry season.
