Abstract: Introduction: Sexual education for adolescents plays a crucial role in preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs), contributing to promoting the health and well-being of this population. The nurse, as a health agent and educator, has a fundamental role in disseminating correct information and guiding young people about safe sexual practices. This study examines nurses' actions in sexual education for adolescents, highlighting effective strategies for preventing STIs and promoting healthy behaviors. Objective: To identify in the scientific literature the role of nurses in the sexual education process to prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in adolescence. Method: This study used the literature review method, with the objective of analyzing and synthesizing the existing literature on nurses' actions in sexual education for adolescents for the prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). The search was carried out in scientific databases, such as PubMed, Scielo and Google Scholar, covering publications from 2018 to 2023. Articles, systematic reviews, guidelines and official documents that addressed the topic were included. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the final sample consisted of 15 articles, which were analyzed to identify the main educational strategies and their impacts on the prevention of STIs among adolescents. Results: we chose to group publications according to the most recurring ideas in their content. Conclusion: The literature researched brought a study that highlights the vital importance of nurses' actions in preventing STIs among adolescents. Despite the challenges, well-structured educational courses, interdisciplinary support and innovative approaches can contribute to a future in which adolescents can explore their sexuality in a safe and healthy way, always addressing the importance of prevention and health promotion.
