Abstract: Given the importance of early childhood education, both in daycare centers for children aged 0 to 3 years and in preschools for children aged 4 and 5, this research addresses a crucial issue in the educational reality: the shortage of places in public daycare centers in the municipality in question. A descriptive study was carried out with a qualitative approach and a special focus on documentary study. The objective was to analyze the percentages of attendance by age group in early childhood education in the year 2023, in addition to evaluating the consequences of this shortage for families and society. The study justified the need to formulate more effective public policies to ensure that all children have access to quality early childhood education. The study concluded that there is still a shortage of places, highlighting the urgent need for measures to fill the gap in daycare centers.
