Abstract: This article was developed as part of the 2023 ICTIM Scientific Initiation Project, investigating perceptions and practices related to breastfeeding in Maricá/RJ, with an ethnographic inspiration. The study included visits to the central health clinic, where there is a breastfeeding support room, and to the Conde Modesto Leal Hospital and Maternity. The objective was to observe practices related to breastfeeding, the donation, and use of donated human milk, highlighting the importance of breastfeeding and barriers such as lack of knowledge and incentives. The results indicate the need for greater awareness about breastfeeding and human milk donation to reduce prejudices. As actions, a social media page was created and a draft device for stimulating mammary glands was developed. Data analysis shows a demand for more initiatives to promote awareness about the importance of breastfeeding and ways to support this practice.
