EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL NA ÁREA DE PROTEÇÃO AMBIENTAL DA BICA DO IPU, CEARÁ: DESAFIOS PARA A BUSCA DE SUSTENTABILIDADE
A Bica do Ipu é uma cascata
alimentada pelo Riacho Ipuçaba que se situa na
cidade do Ipu, no Planalto da Ibiapaba, Oeste
do Ceara, a cerca de 390 km de distância da
capital. Em função das características naturais
peculiares da área, em 1999 o Governo do
Estado do Ceará criou a Área de Proteção
Ambiental (APA) da Bica do Ipu, abrangendo
uma área de 3.484,66 hectares. No entanto,
a partir de levantamentos realizados na área,
verifica-se que falta consciência ambiental
por parte da parte da população que habita a
APA e o seu entorno em relação à importância
da preservação ambiental desses recursos
hídricos. No tocante a isso, pretende-se realizar
uma pesquisa de cunho geográfico voltada
para a educação ambiental, com o objetivo de
sensibilizar a população para a necessidade
de preservação dos recursos hídricos,
visando à realização de usos sustentáveis da
natureza, como forma de desenvolvimento
socioeconômico. Pretende-se, para tanto,
realizar parcerias com a gerência da APA, com
as ONGs, os sindicatos e o Poder Público.

Abstract:
Bica do Ipu is a waterfall fed by
Ipuçaba Creek, located in the city of Ipu, on the
Ibiapaba Plateau, west of Ceara, about 390
km away from the capital. Due to the peculiar
natural characteristics of the area, in 1999 the
Government of the State of Ceará created the
Environmental Protection Area (APA) of Bica
do Ipu, covering an area of 3,484.66 hectares.
However, from surveys conducted in the area, it
is verified that there is a lack of environmental
awareness on the part of the population
that inhabits the APA and its surroundings in
relation to the importance of the environmental
preservation of these water resources. In this
regard, we intend to carry out a geographic
research focused on environmental education,
with the objective of sensitizing the population to
the need to preserve water resources, aiming at
the realization of sustainable uses of nature, as
a form of socioeconomic development . For this
purpose, it is intended to establish partnerships
with APA management, with NGOs, trade unions
and Public Authorities.
