Abstract: The objective of this summary is to highlight, through a documentary, qualitative research, of the “Caderno Meio Ambiente”, a reference document of the Ministry of Education (MEC), through the Secretariat of Basic Education (SEB) and other partners, published in July 2022 to address the themes: Environmental Education and Education for Consumption in the stages of Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education and High School. The Caderno is a complementary document to the BNCC – National Common Curricular Base, this document is mandatory in the design of new Basic Education curricula and was created to assist educational managers and pedagogical teams in the implementation of practices that promote meaningful learning, to work across the board. and integrative themes aimed at citizenship and comprehensive education, based on content dealt with in schools. Analysis of the Caderno reveals a historical presentation of Transversal Themes in Basic Education, as well as the legislation that underlies them. The document makes a connection with the BNCC, with regard to the Environment theme and presents suggestions and possibilities for working on its main concepts and objectives, articulating the curricular components and the areas of knowledge. The relevance of the document also resides in the possibility of becoming an instrument of great value for the development of training and qualification programs for teachers, educators and educational managers, as well as being used for analysis and critical studies on the development of the theme in training of students and its implementation by the Basic Education teaching networks.
