Abstract: The Amazon Forest is dense broadleaf, perennial and heterogeneous, containing some enclaves of other ecosystems such as the cerrado. The research aimed to analyze the patches of cerrados in the region of the municipality of Parintins/AM, Brazil, in the urban area (Areal) and in the rural zone (Zé Açú community), as well as to characterize the particular physiognomic aspects of the vegetation of cerrados in the region and to understand the biogeographic diversity of the site. As for the methodology adopted, the procedures used were unsystematic observation, bibliographical and field research in one of the study areas, whose descriptive analysis made it possible to make comparisons and identify plant species similar to the study site visited (Areal) and mainly endemic to the cerrado central. The results achieved found that the enclaves of open vegetation in white sand (savannahs) existing in the middle of the Amazon Forest appear as origins of local variations in climate and topographic changes in the soil, they are distributed in a way that formed islands in the middle of the vegetation. It should be noted that, due to the characteristics of the soil, the closer the vegetation to the forest, the taller and less tortuous it will be, but in the center the individuals are less frequent with smaller stature and greater tortuosity, thus, the soil is the conditioning factor for the existence of this vegetation. It follows, therefore, that there is no concern with the aim of preserving the Vale do Areal, both on the part of the Municipal/State Public Power, and by the population, which, due to lack of information, does not understand the importance of the cerrado. And the vegetation is suffering from anthropic actions and/or species competing for the same place and this one, runs the serious risk of being extinct.
