ECOS MORAIS E CÍVICOS: UMA ANÁLISE DO AMBIENTE DE UMA BANDA MARCIAL EM TEMPOS DE DITADURA
Este artigo tem por objetivos analisar
os depoimentos dos integrantes da extinta
Banda Marcial da Escola Técnica Federal de
Pelotas (ETFPel), dentre os anos de 1968 e
1973, época de efervescência da Ditadura Militar
Brasileira, e produzir fontes orais a respeito da
existência de “ecos” da disciplina de Educação
Moral e Cívica (EMC) –matéria imposta na
grade curricular escolar pelo regime ditatorial,
que teve por objetivo suscitar no indivíduo uma
moral cidadã, estimulando a formação de um
homem pacífico, moralmente correto, patriota,
um cidadão subordinado. O estudo aprofundado
desta doutrina nacionalista de exaltação à
Pátria levou-nos a nos questionarmos se e
como ela teria influenciado na formação política
dos entrevistados, que foram expostos a estas
ideologias, tanto dentro da banda quanto no
restante do ambiente educacional da instituição.
A partir desta indagação, buscamos identificar
nas falas dos entrevistados traços que apontam
paralelos entre os conteúdos da EMC e as
vivências dos integrantes da banda marcial. Na
composição da pesquisa, utilizamos a História
Oral e a Fotografia como fontes históricas,
como métodos de coleta de dados, e a Análise
de Conteúdo, como metodologia analítica dos
depoimentos. Das análises feitas dos livros
didáticos de EMC selecionados, emergem
quatro categorias, as quais são facilmente
identificadas nos depoimentos dos exintegrantes:
o culto aos símbolos nacionais, os
valores morais, a masculinização e a submissão
à hierarquia. É sobre esta última que trataremos,
mostrando, através das falas dos entrevistados,
que o ambiente da banda reforçava os ideários
da disciplina de EMC na formação do jovem
brasileiro e, particularmente, da Banda Marcial
da ETFPel.

Abstract:
This article aims to analyze the
testimonies of members of the former Martial
Band of the Federal Technical School of Pelotas
(ETFPel) between 1968 and 1973 at the peak
of the Brazilian Military Dictatorship, as well as
collect oral sources on the existence of “ echoes

“of the Moral and Civic Education (MCE) course, which was imposed in the school
curriculum by the dictatorial regime, aiming at arousing a moral citizenship in the
individual, stimulating the formation of a peaceful, morally correct, patriot, subordinate
citizen. An in-depth study of this nationalist doctrine of glorification of the motherland
led us to question whether and how it would have influenced the political formation of
the interviewees who were exposed to these ideologies both within the band and the
rest of the educational environment of the institution. From this questioning, we try to
identify in the lines of the interviewees parallel traces between MCE contents and the
personal experiences of the martial band members. In order to do the research, Oral
History and Photography were used as historical sources and as methods of data
collection, whereas Content Analysis was applied as an analytical methodology of
testimonies. From the analysis of selected MCE textbooks, four categories emerged,
which could be easily identified in the statements of the former members: the cult for
national symbols, moral values, masculinization and submission to hierarchy. The latter
issue will ne further discussed, showing, through the interviewees’ statements, that
the band environment reinforced the ideals of the MCE course in the formation of the
Brazilian youth, and the ETFPel Martial Band in particular.
