DOM EMANUEL GOMES DE OLIVEIRA E A EDUCAÇÃO SUPERIOR EM GOIÁS (1923 - 1955)
O Estado de Goiás no final da década de 1920 e início da década de 1930 passava por grandes desafios no que diz respeito à carência de suas estruturas. E no campo da educação não era diferente. Foi esse contexto que Dom Emanuel Gomes de Oliveira encontrou logo que assumiu a sua função como bispo de Goiás, em 1923. Diante dessa carência existente, uma de suas prioridades foi a educação. Portanto, ele deu uma contribuição considerável nessa área, principalmente lançando as bases para a implantação da educação superior em Goiás, por isso esse artigo visa investigar essa colaboração para a história de Goiás. Desse modo, faremos um recorte histórico partindo de 1923, sua chegada como bispo de Goiás, até 1955, ano da sua morte. No processo de instauração da educação superior em Goiás, D. Emanuel foi pioneiro, pois, mediante o seu trabalho consolidou-se no futuro o que viria a ser a primeira universidade do Centro Oeste brasileiro. Nós, distantes no tempo e usufruidores dos benefícios do ensino superior em Goiás temos o desejo de aprofundar os estudos deste processo histórico, para compreender a atuação de Dom Emanuel na história de Goiás. Dom Emanuel Gomes de Oliveira sempre atuou na educação, ficou conhecido como o “Arcebispo da Instrução”, durante o seu episcopado (1923-1955) se dedicou a fundação de escolas em todo o estado de Goiás. Sendo salesiano, uma de suas preocupações era a propagação da educação em todos os níveis. Ele considerava a instrução e educação como faróis na vida. Assim sendo, o seu trabalho consolidou os fundamentos para o início da educação superior na recém-criada, Goiânia, a nova capital de Goiás. Com o desejo de aprofundarmos mais no conhecimento da instalação do ensino superior em Goiás, abordaremos o contexto eclesial e político da época, diante do nosso objeto, para assim, compreendermos a contribuição de Dom Emanuel para que, no futuro, se criasse a primeira universidade de Goiás.

Abstract:
At the end of the 1920s, the State of Goiás faced great challenges with regard to the lack of its structures. And in the field of education it was no different. It was this context that Dom Emanuel Gomes de Oliveira found as soon as he assumed his function as bishop of Goiás, in 1923. Faced with this existing need, one of his priorities was education. Therefore, he contributed considerably in this area, mainly by laying the foundations for the implementation of higher education in Goiás, so this article aims to investigate this collaboration for the history of Goiás. In this way, we will make a historical cut from 1923, his arrival as bishop of Goiás, until 1955, the year of his death. In the process of establishing higher education in Goiás, D. Emanuel was a pioneer, because through his work was consolidated in the future what would become the first university of the Brazilian Midwest. We, distant in time and enjoyers of the benefits of higher education in Goiás have the desire to deepen the studies of this historical process, to understand the performance of Dom Emanuel in the history of Goiás. Emanuel Gomes de Oliveira always worked in education, became known as the "Archbishop of Education", during his episcopate (1923-1955) was dedicated to support the foundation of schools throughout the state of Goiás. As a Salesian, one of his concerns was the spread of education at all levels. He considered instruction and education as lighthouses in life. Thus, his work consolidated the foundations for the beginning of higher education in the newly created Goiânia, the new capital of Goiás. With the desire to deepen our knowledge of the establishment of higher education in Goiás, we will approach the ecclesial and political context of the time, before our object, in order to understand the contribution of Monsignor Emanuel so that in the future the first university of Goiás might be created.
