DOM ADRIANO – O BISPO COMUNISTA
Nos árduos anos da ditadura militar no Brasil, entre os anos de 1964 e 1985, a região da Baixada Fluminense se tornava famosa por ser muito violenta. Paralelamente a esse processo histórico, a Teologia da Libertação, um movimento católico, marcava profundamente a cidade de Nova Iguaçu nas ações do bispo dessa cidade, Dom Adriano Hypólito. Religioso que se mantinha fiel aos ensinamentos cristãos de estar ao lado dos pobres e em defesa dos Direitos Humanos. Dom Adriano Hypólito entraria para a História da região como o “bispo comunista”. Neste trabalho são analisados discursos escritos pelo bispo durante sua práxis ao lado dos moradores de Nova Iguaçu e, considerados por seus opositores, de vieses marxistas. As fontes deste trabalho são exemplares do jornal A Folha e uma entrevista de Dom Adriano concedida à Revista de Cultura Vozes (1981). A metodologia aplicada é a leitura das fontes em diálogo com autores que se referem às transformações na Igreja Católica e na sociedade brasileira. Este trabalho justifica-se pela proposta de reflexão acerca do papel das ideias marxistas na religiosidade da sociedade brasileira, pois em tempos de multiplicação de agremiações cristãs pautadas por ideias liberais e neoliberais faz-se importante rediscutir uma Igreja que, em certo momento de nossa história, posicionou-se pela coletividade, foi socialmente ativa e buscou fortalecer os laços de comunidade.

Abstract:
In the arduos Years of the military dictatorship in Brazil, between the Years 1964 and 1985, the Baixada Fluminense region became famous for being very violent. Parallel to this historical process, Liberation Theology, a Catholic movement, profoundly marked the city of Nova Iguaçu in the actions of the Bishop of that city, Dom Adriano Hypólito. Religious who remained faithful to the Christian teachings of being on the side of the poor people and in defense of human rights. Dom Adriano Hypólito would go down in the history of the region as the “communist bishop”. In this work, speeches written by the Bishop during his práxis alongside the residentes of Nova Iguaçu and, considered by his opponents, of Marxist biases are analyzed. The sources of this work are copies os the newspaper A Folha anda n interview by Dom Adriano granted to Revista de Cultura Vozes (1981). The Applied methodology is the Reading of the sources in dialogue with authors who refer to the transformations in the Catholic Church and in Brasilian Society. This work is justified by the proposal to reflect on the role of Marxist ideas in the religiosity of Brazilian Society, because in times os multiplications of Christian associations guided by liberal and neoliberal ideas, it is importante to re-discuss a Church that, at a certain moment in our history, took a stand for the Community, was socially active and sought to strengthen Community bonds.
