DOENÇAS TROPICAIS NEGLIGENCIADAS: OPINIÃO DE PROFESSORES SOBRE O CURRÍCULO NA ÁREA DA SAÚDE
De acordo com a Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS), Doenças Tropiciais são um grupo diversificado de enfermidades que prevalecem em condições tropicais e subtropicais. Essas doenças afetam principalmente as regiões mais vulneráveis do país, como Norte e Nordeste. Este estudo tem como objetivo refletir acerca da opinião dos docentes de cursos de graduação na área da saúde a respeito da inserção do tema das DTNs na grade curricular desses cursos e nas aulas de modo geral. Trata-se de estudo exploratório-descritivo, de abordagem qualitativa e corte transversal. Participaram da pesquisa 6 professores de cursos de graduação da área da saúde de uma instituição de ensino superior particular no município de Mogi das Cruzes. Segundo os participantes é importante conhecer essas doenças, todos afirmam incluir em suas aulas esse tema, e alguns concordam que ainda há pouco interesse em compreender mais aprofundadamente as DTNs e suas consequências. Concluiu-se que há a necessidade de se incluir o debate acerca das DTNs na formação dos profissionais de saúde de modo que haja uma compreensão maior, principalmente para a formação generalista do profissional de saúde que vai atuar na atenção básica.

Abstract:
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), tropical diseases are a diverse group of diseases that prevail in tropical and subtropical conditions. These diseases mainly affect the most vulnerable regions in Brazil, such as the North and Northeast. This study aims to reflect on the opinion of professors of the medical course in relation to Neglected Tropical Diseases (DTNs) and how this theme is inserted in the curriculum and classes of courses in health area. This is an exploratory-descriptive study, with a qualitative approach and cross-section. Six professors of undergraduate courses in the health area of a private higher education institution in the municipality of Mogi das Cruzes participated in the research. According to the participants, it is important to know these diseases, all claim to include this topic in their classes, and some agree that there is still little interest in understanding more deeply the NTDs and their consequences. It was concluded that there is a need to include the debate about NTDs in education of health professionals so that there is a greater understanding, especially for the general training of health professionals who will work in primary care.
