DOENÇAS PREVALENTES EM IDOSOS INSTITUCIONALIZADOS: UM ESTUDO SOBRE AS CONDIÇÕES DE SAÚDE/DOENÇA
Esta pesquisa objetivou investigar as doenças prevalentes em idosos institucionalizados em um lar para idosos de um município do Planalto Norte de Santa Catarina. Trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza básica, quantitativa, de campo e descritiva. As informações foram coletadas por meio de entrevista com os idosos que aceitaram participar da pesquisa e pela investigação dos seus prontuários, com a devida autorização da instituição e do idoso. O universo corresponde a 50 idosos residentes, sendo a amostra constituída por 25 destes idosos. A instituição possui estrutura física e de pessoal de acordo com as normas vigentes. Nos resultados temse que a maioria pertence ao sexo feminino, com idade superior a 70 anos, viúvas ou separadas, católicas, sem escolaridade ou com ensino fundamental incompleto, aposentadas e com algum membro da família residente na comunidade externa. Sobre o fato de residirem em um lar para idosos, os motivos são diversos, porém relacionados à solidão e necessidade de cuidados. Verificouse que houve uma prevalência de doenças cardiovasculares e de distúrbios neurológicos entre os idosos. Dos participantes, 03 realizam atividades físicas regularmente, os demais se limitam a afazeres domésticos, assistir televisão e conversar com os colegas da instituição. No que se refere à percepção de seu estado de saúde, 11 caracterizaram como boa e 14 como regulares ou ruins. Encontrouse que todos os participantes entrevistados fazem uso de, pelo menos, 01 fármaco. Os resultados desta pesquisa se assemelham com os encontrados em outros estudos similares, no que concerne à existência dos fatores considerados de risco para estas patologias entre os idosos. O reconhecimento precoce de fatores contribuintes para o surgimento de doenças crônicas e o desenvolvimento de ações de prevenção de agravos pode contribuir para a melhora da qualidade de vida dos idosos institucionalizados ou não.

Abstract:
The present research aimed to investigate the prevalent sicknesses that affect institutionalized elderly peolple in a nursing home in a town in North of Santa Catarina. It is a base character, quantitative, field and descriptive survey. The collection of information happened through an interview with the elders who accepted to participate and the research in the patient records kept by the institution. The sample was of 25 elderly persons in a universe of 50 resident ones. The institution owns physical and staff structure according to the current standards. In the results it could be seen that the majority of participants are female, over 70 years of age, widow or divorced persons, catholic, with no or incomplete mandatory schooling, retired and with at least one member of family living in the external community. Regarding to the fact of living in a formal institution, the reasons are many, yet relating to loneliness and the necessity of special care. It was found cardiovascular deseases and neurological disorders prevalence among the participants. 03 of the participants practice physical activities regularly, all the others help with household chores, watch TV and talk with friends only. In relation to their health condition perception, 11 considered it good and 14 as regular or poor. It was found that all the participants who were interviewed use, at least, one kind of drug.This research results are similar to the ones found in equivalent studies in relation to the existence of factors considered as a risk for these pathologies among the elders. The early recognition of factors which contribute for the chronic deseases occurrence and the development of grievance prevention actions can contribute for the standard of living improvement of institutionalized or not senior citizens.
