Abstract: Metabolic diseases are increasingly common worldwide, being characterized as a combination of factors that increase the chance of developing various diseases, such as Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, hypertension, obesity and dyslipidemias that are related to increased risk of diseases cardiovascular. With early diagnosis and treatment carried out correctly, it is hoped that these diseases will not worsen. In this context, always look for new alternatives for the treatment or aid of these pathologies, including greater consumption of fruits and vegetables. Citrus fruits have several chemical properties, mainly the bioactive substances present in them, such as flavonoids. There are already several studies that demonstrate these satisfactory relationships in the consumption of citrus fruits with metabolic diseases, such as pomelo (Citrus maxima), lemon (Citrus limon), Moro orange (Citrus sinensis L. osbeck) and sweet orange (Citrus sinensis ) . It is important that the life habits of people with metabolic diseases are healthy, and citrus fruits help in this objective.
