Abstract: Feline inflammatory bowel disease is characterized by a set of gastrointestinal disorders that significantly affect the intestinal mucosa. The clinical signs of the disease are not pathognomonic, with chronic vomiting being the most common, but cats can also present with diarrhea, weight loss, anorexia or polyphagia. Middle-aged and elderly cats are most affected, but it can affect cats of all ages and breeds. For diagnosis, it is essential to rule out other causes of differential diagnosis with similar symptoms through laboratory and imaging tests. Histopathological evaluation of biopsy samples is considered the main method for reaching a definitive diagnosis. Treatment is carried out through dietary and drug therapies, aimed at improving quality of life and controlling symptoms, since it is a disease that has no cure. However, new treatment methods are currently being explored to offer more effective therapeutic options and symptom remission.
