Abstract: With the increased debates regarding companies' sustainability in recent years, companies that seek to attract more investors and be relevant in the market increasingly need to communicate sustainability information to their users, such as environmental and social issues. Sustainability reports identify factors related to sustainable development, such as the need to create mechanisms that indicate the levels and impacts of human activities. Therefore, this work aims to understand the users' perception of sustainability reports and the adherence to the publication of the sustainability report by publicly traded companies on the Brazilian Stock Exchange. The research was divided into two stages: the first refers to the analysis of publicly traded companies in the last 10 years of the non-cyclical consumer sector, as classified by B3 and the second stage of the research took place with 30 individual investors participants, collected for convenience. They answered a questionnaire developed by the researcher with closed questions about knowledge and interest in investing in companies that publish sustainability reports. It was found that 67% of the participants know what a sustainability report is, however, only 37% of the respondents consider whether the company is concerned with sustainability when investing. It is concluded that, as much as it is of great importance for companies to adhere to the disclosure of sustainability reports, for small investors it is still not a factor that is taken into consideration when investing.
