Abstract: Bovine brucellosis (BB) is an infectious disease, mandatory notification, caused by the bacterium Brucella abortus, can be transmitted to humans, especially through the ingestion of contaminated milk and dairy products, distributed worldwide, endemic in Brazil and considered an important public health problem. Therefore, the objective was to describe the temporal distribution of the frequency of brucellosis cases in the cattle herd in the state of Acre in the period from 2012 to 2019. To this end, a descriptive, exploratory, ecological observational study was carried out, with a quantitative approach in which the indicators were obtained during the month of September 2021 from information from the National Animal Health Information System (SIZ) available on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA). All animals reactive to the Buffered Acidified Antigen (AAT) test were considered as cases of bovine brucellosis and included in the study, being confirmed by the 2-Mercaptoethanol (2-ME) test and other necessary tests. The data were entered and reviewed in a spreadsheet editor program and analyzed in a statistical program, where the absolute and relative frequencies of the variables of interest were calculated. It was observed that, from 2012 to 2019, 1,038 cases of bovine brucellosis were recorded in the state of Acre, with the highest frequency being identified in 2013 (30.2%) and the lowest in 2019 (0.3 %), indicating a possible reduction in the number of cases in the period analyzed. However, despite the probable decrease in cases, agricultural surveillance and prevention actions against bovine and human brucellosis must be intensified and improved.
