Abstract: The jipijapa hat is a symbol of cultural identity in the Yucatán Peninsula and other regions of Latin America. Its artisanal manufacturing process, practiced in communities such as Bécal, Campeche, involves stages such as drying, dyeing, braiding, and ironing. The latter is critical because it requires manual heat and pressure applied using LP gas-powered equipment. This project proposes the sizing and implementation of an autonomous photovoltaic system to power a semi-automated ironing prototype, aiming to modernize the process, reduce risks, and improve efficiency. An asbestos heating element and a linear actuator were integrated, reducing energy consumption and eliminating the use of fossil fuels. This solution is especially suitable for regions with intermittent electricity supplies, such as Bécal, and represents a sustainable alternative both technically and economically. This proposal strengthens local production, promotes the energy transition, and dignifies artisanal work.
