Abstract: The Paris Climate Conference established guidelines for all signatary countries of the agreement to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide in the atmospfere, with tha aim of reducing global wauming . In this sense, enewable an non-polluting energy sources have gained relevance , in the current context, the use of hydroelectric potential presents itself as a viable alternative to achieve such objectives. This work calculates the energy generation potential of a Hydroelectric Power Plant and selects the hydraulic turbine . The technical steps present here can br used as an outline of a Basic Project for this type of industry. Using an analytical methodology, a potential generation of 26 MW was observed, whitc characterizes the intallation as a Small Hydroelectric Power Plant, with capacity to serve around 45 thousand homes. Finally, a medium-size turbine (30 MW) of the vey slow Francis type was selected, whith was coupled to a 2-pole generator.
