• Abstract: First aid can be defined as the immediate care given to victims of accidents and adversities, with the aim of maintaining vital human functions while waiting for specialized care. The lack of basic knowledge about first aid among the population can result in permanent health problems and even death. This scenario does not exclude the school environment, where incidents can occur. The aim of this study was to report on the experience of undergraduate nursing students in disseminating technical-scientific knowledge about maneuvers and techniques related to pre-hospital care to high school students. The intervention was carried out with 32 students enrolled in the 2nd year of high school, belonging to a high school located in the city of Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, Brazil. The intervention was divided into four distinct and congruent phases: an initial dialogue about the students' empirical knowledge; a theoretical explanation of HPA and first aid maneuvers; the development of first aid practices; and a final assessment summarizing the content expressed. The social action was based on the constructivist methodology, which in its entirety sees the possibilities arising from the transmission of these practices to the communities as fundamental aspects for the promotion of the health of social conglomerates, which will be able to act effectively in the event of an adverse event, providing first aid and/or assisting SAMU professionals during patient care.
