Abstract: Peritoneal dialysis is a way to remove waste products from the blood. It is a treatment for kidney failure, a disease in which the kidneys can no longer filter the blood well enough. OBJECTIVE: To identify the factors associated with a higher rate of Tenckhoff catheter dysfunction. MATERIAL AND METHODS: A descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective, and observational study was conducted. Eighty catheter removals were obtained, of which only 64 met the inclusion criteria. RESULTS: Peritonitis accounted for 31.25% of removals, abdominal cavity adhesions 17.18%, catheter obstruction 15.65%, catheter migration 12.5%, kinking 6.2%, program change 6.2%, frozen cavity 4.68%, other diagnoses 4.68%, and program withdrawal 1.56%. CONCLUSION: The population needs more training, and patients should be closely monitored, especially those in the Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) program, as this population represents the largest number of affected individuals
