Este estudo objetivou identificar a percepção de enfermeiros da atenção primária quanto às contribuições da consulta de enfermagem para o diagnóstico precoce do câncer infantil. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, exploratório, com abordagem qualitativa realizada com nove enfermeiros da Atenção Primária de um município de Minas Gerais. Os depoimentos foram gravados com a ajuda de um gravador portátil, transcritos na íntegra, categorizados e discutidos conforme a literatura científica. A análise dos dados se deu por meio de Análise de Conteúdo. Para os enfermeiros entrevistados, a demora no diagnóstico interfere no sucesso do tratamento, o que pode impossibilitar ou dificultar a cura, já que quanto maior a demora, mais difícil se torna o tratamento. Essas dificuldades no diagnóstico foram um dos pontos citados pelos enfermeiros, que buscam como complemento para o diagnóstico final os exames laboratoriais e de imagem. Observou-se a relação da atuação da equipe multiprofissional na detecção precoce do câncer infantil. Constatou-se que são necessárias uma boa comunicação e formação entre os profissionais que estiverem envolvidos no processo de diagnóstico. Portanto, é perceptível que é conhecida pelos enfermeiros o valor da consulta de enfermagem no processo de diagnóstico, assim como a importância disso para um bom prognóstico e tratamento, mas que a dificuldade enfrentada por eles está realmente no déficit de conhecimento, no sentido de identificar e diferenciar a sintomatologia do câncer infantil das doenças comuns da infância.

• Abstract:

  This study aimed to identify the perception of primary care nurses regarding the contributions of the nursing consultation to the early diagnosis of childhood cancer. This is a descriptive, exploratory study, with a qualitative approach carried out with nine nurses from Primary Care in a municipality in Minas Gerais. The testimonies were recorded with the help of a portable recorder, transcribed in full, categorized and discussed according to the scientific literature. Data analysis was done through Content Analysis. For the nurses interviewed, the delay in diagnosis interferes with the success of the treatment, which can make healing impossible or difficult, since the longer the delay, the more difficult the treatment becomes. These difficulties in diagnosis were one of the points cited by nurses, who seek laboratory and imaging tests as a complement to the final diagnosis. The relationship between the performances of the multidisciplinary team in the early detection of childhood cancer was observed. It was found that good communication and training between professionals who are involved in the diagnostic process is necessary. Therefore, it is noticeable that nurses know the value of nursing consultation in the diagnosis process, as well as the importance of this for a good prognosis and treatment, but that the difficulty they face is really in the knowledge deficit, in the sense of identify and differentiate the symptoms of childhood cancer from common childhood diseases.
