DIAGNÓSTICO DO GERENCIAMENTO DOS RESÍDUOS SÓLIDOS NOS CURTUMES DO CEARÁ
Os curtumes possuem alto potencial
poluidor, devendo ser monitorados com
diligência. Este estudo apresenta um diagnóstico
do atual gerenciamento dos resíduos sólidos dos
curtumes do Ceará, com foco na problemática
de destinação final dos resíduos. O estudo foi
composto por duas etapas. Na primeira etapa,
utilizou-se de dados de origem secundária para
caracterizar o setor de curtume. A segunda
etapa consistiu na busca de dados primários
obtidos através de visita a curtumes. Diante dos
resultados encontrados, constatou-se que os
curtumes do Ceará possuem dificuldades para
destinar corretamente os resíduos gerados.
Alguns curtumes estão encaminhando seus
resíduos aos lixões, condenados pela Política
Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos. A falta de
sensibilidade ambiental é um dos entraves para
a gestão correta dos resíduos. Constatou-se
ainda que as empresas com Sistema de Gestão
Ambiental apresentam melhores resultados no
gerenciamento dos resíduos sólidos.

Abstract:
Tanneries have high polluting
potential and should be monitored with diligence.
This study presents a diagnosis of the current
solid waste management of the tanneries of
Ceará, focusing on the problem of final disposal
of waste. The study was composed of two
stages. In the first stage, secondary source
data were used to characterize the tannery
sector. The second stage consisted in the
search of primary data obtained through visits
to tanneries. In view of the results found, it
was observed that the tanneries of Ceará have
difficulties to correctly destine the generated
residues. Some tanneries are sending their
waste to the dumps, condemned by the National
Policy of Solid Waste. The lack of environmental
sensitivity is one of the obstacles to the correct
management of waste. It was also verified that
the companies with Environmental Management
System present better results in solid waste
management.
