Abstract: Brazilian livestock farming faces challenges related to pasture degradation, compromising the productivity and sustainability of production systems. In this context, diagnosing the level of pasture degradation is essential to support adequate management and recovery strategies. This study aimed to diagnose the level of pasture degradation in three rural properties located in the municipality of Pindaré-Mirim. The level of degradation was evaluated using three methods: (a) structured interviews based on questionnaires applied to assess pasture establishment, degradation, recovery, and maintenance; (b) analysis of the physical and chemical attributes of pasture soils at a depth of 0–20 cm; and (c) visual assessment of pasture degradation levels. The pastures of Massai grass (Megathyrsus maximus cv. Massai) and Marandu grass (Urochloa brizantha cv. Marandu) at Fazenda Mãe Rainha presented light and moderate degradation, respectively. At Fazenda Muniz, the pastures of Massai and Marandu grasses were classified as having moderate degradation. At Fazenda Minha Mãe, moderate and severe degradation levels were observed in the pastures of Massai and Marandu grasses, respectively. Pasture degradation was caused not only by the lack of information regarding management practices, but also by the absence of proper management. A correlation was also observed between soil chemical composition and pasture degradation levels in all evaluated areas, aggravated by the low educational level of the landowners.
