Abstract: Transforming natural resources using cinnamaldehyde as the starting aldehyde and morpholine to carry out the synthesis of phenylethenylamines is the objective of this work. Reductive amination is one of the most used methods for the synthesis of new amines, known for their medicinal properties. Seeking to apply some of the principles of Green Chemistry, this work uses cinnamaldehyde, which has vegetable origin, is promoted by microwaves and presents formic acid as a reducing agent. The products were separated by acid-base extraction using chloroform in the organic phase. Acid extraction separates the amines from the other components of the reaction. Analyzes were carried out using the Gas Chromatograph-FID with the organic phase of the acidic layer, in order to obtain the conversion rates of the aldehyde into products of each reaction. The reactions were promoted by microwaves, using a reaction tube with a capacity of 10 mL, carrying out studies of the variables, namely temperature and time. The results indicate that at 100º C after 10 minutes a conversion rate of 50% is observed, considering that no by-products are formed.
