Abstract: Radiotherapy is a therapeutic option for the treatment of malignant tumors, that can act as an adjuvant or neoadjuvant regimen. In general, the damage caused to the skin as a result of the use of this therapy is encompassed by the concept of radiodermatitis, which, is subdivided into acute and chronic lesions. In this context, the present study aims to identify the factors associated with the development of radiodermatitis in oncology patients in treatment of breast cancer. For this purpose, the present is an integrative literature review, in which searches were conducted in the PubMed platform, selecting 20 studies. This studies demonstrated the existence of two groups of triggering factors for this condition in the context of breast cancer treatment: intrinsic factors, such as body mass index, breast size, age, and genetic aspects; and extrinsic factors, such as radiation distribution and fractionation, duration of radiopharmaceutical exposure, as well as concomitant treatments performed. It is concluded that there are several predictive factors for radiodermatitis, being the role of healthcare professionals to be aware of methods for preventing and reducing the severity of this condition.
