Abstract: The school institution is an environment that enables the promotion of development and learning, and these topics are discussed in the National Curriculum Reference for Early Childhood Education and in the National Common Curricular Base. The author of the study works as an educational speech therapist from a city inland in São Paulo and developed a training proposal with an emphasis on language development, which was offered to pedagogical coordinators of early childhood education. The work was developed in two parts. In the first part, were analyzed speech therapy evaluations of students applied in 2022 and in the second, a training course was given to pedagogical coordinators in 2023, addressing the following topics: considerations on the process of language acquisition and development; stages of language development; phoneme acquisition stages; prevention of harmful oral habits; development of listening skills; how to stimulate auditory skills in children; suggestions for activities for language development in different age groups (from 6 to 18 months; from 18 months to 3 years; from 4 to 6 years). The training course given aimed to equip pedagogical coordinators to deal with the topic of language development with teachers in school units.
