DESENVOLVIMENTO DA EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL ESCOLAR: INICIATIVAS DA PREFEITURA MUNICIPAL DE ARAGUARI/MG
O presente estudo avaliou a
contribuição do poder público municipal para
o desenvolvimento da Educação Ambiental
escolar. Optamos pela pesquisa qualitativa.
Entrevistamos oito professores de Ciências
que atuavam do sexto ao nono ano, na
rede municipal de Araguari/MG. Os dados
evidenciaram que o poder público municipal
tem oferecido uma importante contribuição para
o desenvolvimento da Educação Ambiental
escolar. Esse resultado positivo, ainda que
não evidencie importantes aspectos como a
concepção de Educação Ambiental, chama a
atenção para o cumprimento da Lei 9795/99,
que determina a presença do tema na educação
formal. A contribuição da prefeitura de Araguari
pode e deve ser ainda mais efetiva. Os dois
programas foram bem avaliados por todos
os professores e nos leva a recomendar não
apenas a perenidades destes, mas também a
inserção de outros.

Abstract:
This study evaluated the
contribution of the municipal government for
the development of school environmental
education. We chose qualitative research. We
interviewed eight science teachers who work
from the sixth to ninth grade, in municipal
schools in Araguari, MG. The data showed
that the municipal government has offered an
important contribution to the development of
school environmental education. This positive
result, although it does not evidence important
aspects as the conception of Environmental
Education, draws attention to the fulfillment of the
Law 9795/99, which determines the presence of
the subject in formal education. The contribution
of the prefecture of Araguari can and should
be even more effective. Both programs were
well evaluated by all teachers and lead us to
recommend not only their permanency, but also
the inclusion of others.
