• Abstract:

  Over the recent years, rehabilitation

  of edentulous with implants has become a

  reality. In this context, from the end of the ‘70s,

  with advent of the osseointegration, implants

  became a safe rehabilitation option, and could

  be indicated to support fixed or removable

  dentures. In view of a narrative review of the

  literature, based on scientific evidence, it was

  possible to list situations and responses that

  should advice in professional decision making

  and their choice between rehabilitation with fixed

  complete denture or overdenture. In this sense,

  the two rehabilitation modalities are widely used

  and their use may be preferable depending on

  the clinical situation. Therefore, it is up to the

  professional, experience and common sense to

  score which features will be considered first, aiming at the longevity of rehabilitation

  and patient comfort, and then elect the rehabilitation system, which better meets their

  expectations and, especially, those of the patient.
