Abstract: Gas gangrene is a muscle tissue infection with a high risk of mortality. The anaerobic bacterium Clostridium perfringens is the main cause. Its characteristic is rapid spread, which, if left untreated, can quickly lead to death. This report describes the case of a 42-year-old female patient, a victim of a car accident with trauma to the right lower limb. She developed clinical worsening and necrotizing fasciitis. Information was obtained through a review of medical records and an interview with the physician who performed the surgical procedure and the resident assistant who also participated. Photographs and videos of the surgery were included, as well as a literature review. Clinical observation and surgical intervention were chosen. The patient is currently undergoing outpatient follow-up and is progressing well since the surgical debridement.
