Abstract: ABSTRACT Objective: To map actions that represent the continuity of breastfeeding care in prison. Method: Scoping review based on the JBI methodology, with searches in January 2023 in the Medline, LILACS, BDENF, Pubmed, WoS, Scopus, Embase, CINAHL, and BDTD databases. Results: A total of 616 articles were found and 36 were included. Based on similarities, two categories emerged: practices that contribute to the continuity of breastfeeding care in the prison system and barriers to the continuity of breastfeeding care inside and outside the prison system. Discussion: Actions that positively or negatively impact the continuity of breastfeeding care in prison were identified. The reality found in the penal system is at odds with what is proposed by breastfeeding policies. Final considerations: The coordination of care in prison institutions organizes the breastfeeding process. Therefore, it is necessary to associate with the legal service to articulate rights and the logistics of work processes, to achieve success in the continuity of breastfeeding care.
