Abstract: Agroecological and organic farming systems have gained prominence in recent years as sustainable alternatives to conventional agriculture, driven by growing concerns about environmental sustainability and food security. However, plant disease control in these systems presents a critical challenge, given the restricted or non-existent use of pesticides. This scientific article examines the primary challenges in disease management within agroecological and organic systems, highlighting the importance of integrated practices such as crop diversification, soil management, and biological control methods. Additionally, it discusses sustainable strategies to address these challenges, aiming to promote plant health and the resilience of agricultural production systems, as evidenced by studies like those of Altieri (1999) and Reganold and Wachter (2016).
