Abstract: Violence against women is a phenomenon of global reach, and its incidence and prevalence rates are alarming. According to Franco and Lourenço (2022), this issue assumes particularly worrying proportions in the Brazilian context, where femicide emerges as the most prominent form of this dark reality. In this challenging context, nursing plays an extremely important role in helping women who are victims of violence in health services. Thus, the main objective of this work is to analyze the effectiveness of nursing care practices provided to women in situations of violence in the emergency service, aiming at the quality of life of these women and preventing the recurrence of cases of violence. To achieve this purpose, this work is an integrative literature review. To this end, the following guiding question is adopted: What are the most effective nursing care practices for women in situations of violence in the emergency department? The selection of studies was conducted independently and comprised four distinct stages. Initially, the search for descriptors resulted in a total of 188 articles. Subsequently, a thorough analysis of the titles resulted in the exclusion of 103 articles, due to duplications in the databases and because they did not meet the inclusion criteria. In this way, 85 articles were selected for abstract reading, with 65 manuscripts being excluded at this stage. This resulted in 20 articles that were subjected to full reading and selection of those that were aligned with the research purpose. Therefore, the critical analysis of the studies reveals that nursing care in the context of violence against women presents significant challenges. Although some solutions are highlighted, such as training, protocols and a comprehensive approach, the question of the sufficiency of assistance remains open.
