Abstract: This article aimed to analyze the challenges and prospects of the Mozambique Stock Exchange in the International Financial Market. The research was supported based on the analysis of available books and scientific articles that address the topic. It is clear that the financial system is an integral and important part of any modern economic society. Therefore, it is essential to introduce some basic notions about the functioning of the economy, before dealing specifically with the financial system, so that we can better understand the functions and functioning of markets. In Mozambique, the Government, within the scope of its economic policy, created the Stock Exchange through Decree nº 49/1998, of 22 September, with the purpose of diversifying the financing alternatives that then existed and also promoting the capture of savings and its conversion into productive investment. One of the measures taken by BVM to remedy the situation was to encourage large companies to continue issuing bonds and the opening of the second stock market aimed at SMEs. The weak development of BVM is due to several structural and economic constraints in the country itself, which highlight the low capacity of national companies to generate profits and become sustainable over time and which greatly hinders admission to stock market share price, the lack of a culture of accountability in most national companies that survive with accumulated debts without the ability to settle them.
