• Abstract: The present work presents as a discussion a literature review in relation to the teaching and learning process for deaf students in the face of social isolation caused by covid-19. Faced with the new scenario caused by the pandemic, many schools adopted remote teaching, with this new modality adopted by institutions, students began to have great difficulty staying in contact with teachers, and this difficulty had greater impacts on deaf students . Deaf people need greater visual interaction to communicate, and through remote teaching, visual interaction between teacher and student has been reduced, either because they do not have an Internet connection, or because they do not have the ability to handle the necessary technological resources. Therefore, the justification for building this work is to expose and discuss how this remote modality affects deaf students, presenting the objective of reflecting on the challenges of including deaf students in the pandemic context. The procedures adopted in the methodology were of a bibliographic nature, the search was carried out in the following databases: Scielo (Scientific Library Online) Scielo; Bireme and Lilacs, without temporal delimitation. The following authors were used for the literature review: Cury et al (2020), Fachinetti et al (2021), Thoma et al (2010), Marcolla et al (2020), Santos et al (2021), Souza et al ( 2021) and Vasconcelos (2021). The research also reveals that the difficulties in remote teaching for the deaf only transfer the difficulties of face-to-face teaching and that this highlights the main concerns regarding communication between hearing teachers and deaf students.
