Abstract: The study investigated individuals' perceptions and practices regarding parameters that influence dengue incidence. The results indicated that the majority of the population recognizes the severity of the disease, but there are still significant knowledge gaps, especially among individuals with lower education levels, who tend to adopt inappropriate practices, such as the use of anti-inflammatories and antibiotics. The survey also revealed a lower frequency of visits by health agents to higher-income households, where, paradoxically, dengue cases were also recorded. This suggests a possible failure in the allocation of preventive efforts. Furthermore, the persistence of cases, despite the high frequency of agent visits, demonstrates that the effectiveness of combating dengue depends on the active engagement of the population. Participants suggested the need for ongoing educational campaigns and stricter regulatory measures, including fines for repeat offenders. Therefore, combating dengue is a socio-ecological challenge that requires an integrated approach and ongoing collaboration between government and community.
