DEMOCRATIZAR O ENSINO SUPERIOR E NÃO DEIXAR DE SONHAR: LUTAMOS POR UMA UNIVERSIDADE POPULAR
Este trabalho aborda as atividades de extensão executadas pelo Grupo PET Conexões Políticas Públicas de Juventude (PET PPJ) da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), cujo foco reside na realização de oficinas sobre ações afirmativas para acesso ao ensino superior com estudantes de origem popular de um Centro de Juventude em Porto Alegre. Tendo em vista a dificuldade desses jovens em acessar as informações relativas ao ingresso no ensino superior público, objetiva-se a construção de um espaço de diálogo entre os extensionistas da universidade e os jovens em idade escolar. Para tanto, as oficinas são realizadas em em quatro encontros em que proposta é conhecer e dialogar sobre seus planos e os projetos de vida, ouvir suas ideias e expectativas em relação à universidade e outras possibilidades de vida após o ensino médio. O que se percebe durante a realização das oficinas é que uma parte considerável destes jovens não projeta ingressar no ensino superior, devido, sobretudo, a duas razões fundamentais: pela universidade se apresentar longínqua da sua realidade e pelo ingresso precoce no mundo do trabalho. Diante disso, percebemos a importância e urgência em dialogar com a juventude em idade escolar sobre as Ações Afirmativas e a realidade da universidade. Temos constatado que estes grupos não têm tido acesso ao direito amplo e irrestrito da educação, e desconhecem as possibilidades de ingresso na universidade e, até mesmo, a existência desses espaços de ensino superior público.

Abstract:
This work addresses the extension activities carried out by the PET Group Public Youth Policy Connections (PET PPJ) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), whose focus is to hold workshops on affirmative action for access to higher education with students of popular origin from a Youth Center in Porto Alegre. In view of the difficulty these young people have in accessing information on entering public higher education, the aim is to build a space for dialogue between university extensionists and school-age youth. To this end, the workshops are held in four meetings where the aim is to get to know and dialogue about their plans and life projects, to hear their ideas and expectations regarding university and other possibilities for life after high school. What is noticed during the workshops is that a considerable part of these young people do not plan to enter higher education, mainly due to two fundamental reasons: because the university is far from their reality and because they enter the world of work at an early age. Faced with this, we realize the importance and urgency of dialoguing with young people of school age about Affirmative Action and the reality of university. We have noticed that these groups have not had access to the broad and unrestricted right to education, and they are unaware of the possibilities of entering university and even the existence of these spaces of public higher education.
