DEMOCRACIA E AUTORITARISMO: TRAJETÓRIA POLÍTICA DE EDUARDO GOMES EM CONTEXTOS DE TRANSIÇÃO
O trabalho tem como proposta
discutir a trajetória política de Eduardo Gomes,
analisando suas ações e ideologia entre os anos
1922 e 1967, contexto que perpassa desde a
Primeira República até os primeiros anos da
Ditadura Militar Brasileira. Como tenentista tinha
aspirações de governo centralizado, se opunha
ao liberalismo e denunciava a desmoralização
dos costumes políticos pelas oligarquias.
Contudo, como candidato a presidente da
República em 1945 e 1950, pela legenda da
União Democrática Nacional e, posteriormente,
como filiado ao partido, defendia o liberalismo.
O objetivo do trabalho, portanto, é compreender
os períodos de transições – democracia e
autoritarismo – a partir de personagem que
teve intensa participação política no contexto e
mudou de pensamento político.

Abstract:
The paper aims to discuss the
political career of Eduardo Gomes, analyzing
their actions and ideology between the years
1922 and 1967 context that permeates from the
First Republic until the early years of Dictatorship
Brazilian Military. As lieutenants had centralized
government aspirations, opposed to liberalism
and denounced the demoralization of political
customs by oligarchies. However, as a candidate
for president in 1945 and 1950 by the legend
of the National Democratic Union and later as
affiliated with the party, defended liberalism. The
objective therefore is to understand the periods
of transitions - democracy and authoritarianism
- from character who had intense political
participation in the context and changed political
thought.
