Abstract: The treatment of effluents has become a great ally of environmentalists and has benefited the population in general, not only by the volume of effluents generated and its composition, but also by reference to public health levels. The industrial effluents are characterized by the generation of large volumes of waste, mainly dyes. Heterogeneous photocatalysis has become an alternative in the treatment of these effluents. In this work the use of heterogeneous photocatalysis with the use of Zinc Aluminofosfato in the degradation of the effluent containing the methylene blue synthetic dye was studied. The material was synthesized via a non-hydrolytic sol-gel (NHG) process and characterized by thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction and infrared, the results being monitored by UV-Vis spectroscopy indicating by the results for the synthesis the incorporation of zinc in the matrix of AlPO4Zn aluminum phosphate and for the application as a photocatalyst positive results were found. In the experiments, the parameters of pH, time of exposure to ultraviolet light, concentration of the catalyst, concentration of the pollutant were monitored. The methylene blue discoloration results showed significant removal values of up to 99% for the dye concentrations of 50 mg.L-1 and the catalyst concentration of 1 g.L-1.
