Abstract: Owing to increasing pollution and water scarcity, progress has been made with industrial, social, and technological development and, simultaneously, ensuring water preservation. Wastewater generated by the textile industry is toxic when released into water bodies without adequate treatment, which requires the use of advanced technologies. Fenton reactions are attractive, but require acidification of wastewater with pH values between 3.0 - 4.0. Therefore, variations in this process have been studied to overcome this limitation. The manipulation of the reactive dye Drimaren's Red X-6BN (VDX-6BN) was studied to explore the speculative application of an iron (III) complex (FeL). FeL was obtained and characterized using infrared spectroscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy, XRD, melting point, and molar conductivity measurements. The experiments were performed using Jar Test equipment at 200 rpm and room temperature (~20 °C). The system was stirred for 5 min, followed by addition of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and pH adjustment. The sample was removed and filtered, and the absorbance was measured at 516 nm using a spectrophotometer. The results showed that FeL is promising for handling organic products, specifically reactive dyes. The best conditions for occurrence were pH 6.0, initial H2O2 concentration of 0.01170 mol/L, FeL concentration of 0.28 g/L and 0.21 g/L and VDX-6BN removal rates of 85.63±1.21% and 84.85±0.80%, respectively.
